The term “Ulan-Ulan” derives from the Visayan dialect, translating to “rain.” The name is befitting, as the forceful descent of the waters generates a fine mist, creating an ethereal atmosphere. The cascading waters converge to form a natural basin, providing ample water for a refreshing swim. The lush green surroundings coupled with the invigorating rush of water make it a delightful experience for visitors seeking to indulge in a rejuvenating bath.

RECOLETOS FALLS

The name “Recoletos” finds its origins in the iconic San Jose Recoletos statue, positioned in a serene cove adjacent to the waterfalls. This nomenclature was bestowed by the former University President of the University of San Jose Recoletos (USJR), who happens to hail from Biliran.

Nestled within the wilderness of Brgy. Sampao in Almeria, Recoletos Waterfalls finds its home in a region renowned as the realm of waterfalls. A mere 5-minute stroll upstream from the more renowned Ulan-Ulan Falls, this location captivates visitors with its untouched beauty.

Reaching a height of approximately 15 meters, the Recoletos Waterfall showcases a broad pool of deep water, an ideal setting for both swimming and cliff-jumping enthusiasts. The expanse of flat stones encircling the water’s basin creates a picturesque spot for picnics. Enveloped by lush foliage, the area offers a natural shield against the sun’s intense rays.

Remarkably unaltered by modern development, this locale remains unspoiled by rental cottages, restroom facilities, or convenience stores. The sole sign of human intervention is a bridge, utilized by individuals to traverse to the captivating Recoletos Falls.

Bagongbong Falls (Bagumbong Falls)

Bagongbong Falls, also known as Bagumbong Falls, is a captivating natural wonder tucked away in the heart of Almeria town. To reach this exquisite destination, adventurers embark on a picturesque 15-minute trek through a lush, verdant forest. This enchanting journey serves as a prelude to the breathtaking sight that awaits – a spectacle of pristine, crystal-clear rapids cascading with a mesmerizing allure.

Emanating from the heights above, the water flows with an invigorating chill, infusing the surroundings with an air of refreshing vitality. The falls themselves possess an almost cathedral-like grandeur, nestled harmoniously within the embrace of the surrounding forested expanse. The juxtaposition of nature’s architectural marvel with the untamed beauty of the woods creates a truly immersive experience for those fortunate enough to venture here.

As sunlight filters through the canopy above, dancing upon the sparkling waters, a serene ambiance envelops the area, inviting visitors to embrace the tranquility that abounds. Bagongbong Falls stands as a testament to the raw power and elegance of nature, a place where one can escape the demands of the modern world and be cradled by the gentle symphony of falling water and rustling leaves.
