The municipality of Almeria consists of a total of 13 barangays. Each barangay has an average size of 245.255 hectares. Among these barangays, Barangay Caucab, located in an elevated part of the municipality, has the largest land area, measuring 469.3199 hectares. On the other hand, Barangay Pulang Bato has the smallest land area, covering 126.5094 hectares. The land areas of each barangay mentioned above are based on the cadastral records at the Municipal Assessor’s Office. It is important to note that these figures only pertain to the alienable and disposable lands and do not include the timberland areas.

      The population of Almeria Municipality has experienced a decline in its growth rate due to out-migration and a decreasing birth rate. Job opportunities in metropolitan areas and abroad have led to out-migration, while the Family Planning Program has contributed to a lower birth rate. There were irregularities in population growth from 1948 to 1975, possibly due to inaccurate data. The population projection for the next 10 years shows a steady increase, with the municipality’s area capable of accommodating the population with effective planning and land use management. The 2020 Census recorded a population of 17,954, accounting for a certain percentage of Biliran province and the Eastern Visayas region, resulting in a population density calculation.
